I'm starting my quest at the beginning...a very good place to start :) My selections will be limited, for the moment, to what my rather small public library has to offer. I'll be checking out five books at a time, to start with, and see how it goes. The first five to come home with me today will be Falling Man, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, The Kindly Ones, The Inheritance of Loss, and Carry Me Down.
Stay tuned as our adventure begins!!
Happy Reading!

WAY COOL IDEA! You have my support and I will be checking in! Good luck! I hope you will comment on most of the books, b/c I trust your judgement and am always looking for suggestions on good reads! Yay Kate! Love you!
Thanks Jess!! I knew you'd be with me :) We'll see how it goes!
Kate, I love it! I am going to try to read along with you, but after skimming the whole list, I can assert with great confidence that I will NOT be reading every selection. However, I'm really excited about Reveries of a Solitary Walker, by Jean-Jacques Rousseau.
Oh, and a question for the blogmaster: Where do I fall on the lameness scale considering that I've read more selections from the 1700s list than any other?
Nic, I think I fall into the same category. My experience with anything in the 2000s is woefully small. I don't think that is any indication of lameness on our part, simply an appreciation of the classics :)
I don't think I could read 1001 books in a lifetime. Unless they were those kiddy books with two sentences a page. Or picture books. I could probably do those.
Regardless, I'm all for longterm projects. Go for it, dude.
oh. P.s. I saw a license plate last week that made me think of you. It said something about dancing. Remembered 81 to dance.
Wow, just looked at the spreadsheet and was depressed until I got to the 1800s. I thought I would have read more, sigh. I may have to travel along with you but I'll wait for the new release. (Maybe there will be more that I've read!)
P.S. I have at least 3 of the books on the list if you need to borrow them.
